The Colony of New York
New York, located along the Atlantic Ocean. New York borders Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. The ground of New York was rocky but the soil around there was good once there was no rocks or trees around the soil.
Before the English arrived, there were a groups of native Indians that lived there. In about 10,000 BC, it was thought that the first Indians arrived in North America. Some of the groups were the Lenape, Mohican, Wappinger, The Munsee and The Montauk.
In 1664, New York was founded by the Duke, of York, James Stuart. New York then became a royal colony in 1685.
